UK Armed Forces Sites to Accommodate Asylum Seekers in Effort to End Hotel Use
Numerous individuals seeking protection could be housed in military barracks as the government seeks to phase out the use of temporary lodging.
Talks are in progress regarding the use of two facilities - a facility in the Scottish region and a second in the English south - for housing for nine hundred males.
The Prime Minister has instructed Interior Ministry and Ministry of Defence officials to expedite efforts to find suitable armed forces locations.
The administration has committed to end the operation of refugee hotels, which have consumed billions of pounds and emerged as a focal point for immigration opposition demonstrations.
Planned Military Locations
Individuals may be housed in the Cameron military facility in the Scottish city and Crowborough army training camp in southeastern England by the final days of the upcoming month.
Commercial facilities, short-term shelter and previously unused facilities are also being considered for potential use.
Authorities Statements
Government sources confirmed that each location would adhere to wellbeing requirements.
"We are deeply troubled at the level of individuals without proper documentation and temporary hotel accommodations."
"Our administration will terminate all refugee hotels. Work are progressing effectively, with additional appropriate locations being brought forward to reduce burden for resident populations and cut asylum costs."
Present Housing Data
Nearly 32,000 asylum seekers are at this time being accommodated in temporary lodging, representing a reduction from a peak of exceeding fifty-six thousand in last year.
A newly released analysis found that billions of public funds had been "wasted" on refugee housing.
Prior Defense Facility Operation
Two former military sites - MDP Wethersfield in southeastern England and the Napier facility in Kent - are already being operated to shelter individuals seeking protection after being commissioned under the prior administration.
The Prime Minister commented on the developments, stating: "We remain committed to shut down each temporary accommodation facility. It's difficult to express how frustrated and angry I am that we face a mess as significant as this by the last government."
