Labuschagne Left Out from Australian ODI Team Versus Team India
The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from the three-game ODI series against India, as in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw receiving a surprise call-up.
Performance Issues Lead to Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international team following being dismissed for one in his two batting efforts during the recent series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a best innings of 47 in his last 10 ODI innings.
The 31-year-old has featured in 68 one-day internationals and scored 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64, but will now work towards a return to the Test side in time for the Ashes beginning in Perth on November 21.
Surprise Inclusion and Other Squad Changes
There have been indications of a resurgence with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw scored a century for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his ODI debut in the forthcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
The left-hander has played 14 Test matches with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also seeking a return to the Test team as Australia look for a solution to their opening batting issues.

Squad Selection Strategy and Schedule
Australia have named a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the Ashes on the horizon, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-match series due to a wrist problem suffered in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20 teams after scoring a hundred in the final game against New Zealand to seal a series clean sweep last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the cricket season through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an crucial phase in the preparation for the T20 World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously prepare specific players for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India commences on October 19 in Perth, before the rivals play five T20 internationals from 29 October.
